Teaching is a real passion of mine, and I love being in the classroom with my students. As a professor at a small liberal arts university, much of my time is focused on teaching and developing courses. My teaching focuses on encouraging students to learn in a variety of ways and through a range of experiences and mediums. For instance, I regularly teach a 'Politics and Film' course that is a favorite of mine, and my students. I have used a variety of simulations in my courses, such as Statecraft in my 'Intro to IR' course or Model Diplomacy in my 'U.S. Foreign Policy' course. I also teach courses that have a civic learning component, such as my 'Religion and World Politics' course which requires students to conduct a project out in the community. Many of my courses have interdisciplinary appeal, and such I have been lucky enough to co-teach a few courses with colleagues in the Spanish ('Latin American Politics in Film and Literature') and the Economics (International Political Economy) departments. Lastly, my world politics focus has allowed me to lead or participate in a number of study abroad programs/classes including El Salvador, Haiti, France, and China.
